Forest Games! Are competitions mostly just fun, or a fruitful method to achieve learning?
The subject of the workshop is to share some experiences and ideas related to competition as an educational method. The objectives of the workshop are to make the participants more aware of competition as a teaching method. What are the pros and cons, and how should this method be applied to make it successful?
The participants will take active part in different competitions. Between the activities, there will be time to discuss and share experiences. The aim is to give the participants examples to take with them, and a first-hand knowledge and experience of good and not so good activities. Thus, the participants should be able to design an appropriate competition for their target group back home.
The workshop will be outdoors, with a possibility to have a summing up indoors the last half an hour. The participants should wear outdoor shoes and clothing. (For those who have head torch, this might come in useful, as dusk will come upon us while we are outdoors.)
